Besotten by Burberry

Timely News!

The word was more or less out in Spring that Burberry's new make - up line is due out in July. Burberry didn't really need anything additional to add luster or enhance their current image, but this news just drives Burberry fans mad with
anticipation.

Today, as I delved into W's news and notes pages, I became enamored again with the concept of Burberry itself. I had been a novice shopper/consumer when I first breezed through Bloomingdale's in the far out suburbs of Illinois. I was actually directed to the counter by someone who said if I made a shortcut through the store, I would get somewhere faster. As I made a beeline to the store, I was accosted by an enchanting Asian girl, possibly, Korean, who beckoned me to stop and chat with her at the Burberry Brit counter. The shortcut actually led to a lengthy and informational chat.

I was a little shy, because the sophisticated palette of Burberry colors registered to me as: "maybe you're not ready for this style yet." I was still a hesitant consumer and wasn't quite over my ultra - feminine habits for girl - oriented colors, so I felt a little strange perusing products that had a different allure altogether. I loved how the clerk engaged me. I was actually grateful to her for educating me into this new world of possibilities. I had needed some sort of shopping ritual to acquaint me with other possibilities besides pinks, blues, and other sweat-shirt shades I was used to at the time. I was even offered a Burberry bag to make the whole experience count. The perfume became some sort of sacred elixir I was to carry out with me. I also felt that Burberry had ushered me into the threshold of buying at a more sophisticated level. It felt as if I was wholly new and had shed some sort of phase that had lagged with me for years.

All along, unbeknownst to me, I was being observed by a supervisor who had possibly been training the new representatives at the counter. I approached him when I was in the know and acknowledged that I hadn't intended to buy anything, but because I was introduced to the product in a cordial and polite way, I was more than happy to try something new. I also said I liked to browse and contemplate the purchase before I bought it and then pondered whether it was more convenient to buy immediately or at a later point. I felt they had respected that about me as a consumer trying to educate myself about a product. I was handed the tester by hand.

I also learned the counter was new at the store. I believe it was their first day there.

Hours later, as I sailed through a friend's home, with the Burberry products in tow, the whole allure continued on within me. My friend was amazed that I had bought the products and wanted to see them all. I said that normally I never buy anything unless it really grabs at me, and this brand did.

She looked at me in a knowing way and said I had good taste, and that Burberry was her favorite line. She had been researching the ads for years in magazines. She added that she virtually clipped all of Burberry's advertisements and filed them neatly into a folder. As a result, my friend and I started connecting over fashion and fashion consumerism, and the whole trip somehow solidified my friendship with her. The chat on Burberry that day opened up a lot of doors and windows for me. I felt as if the elation I felt would never end as this connection over the subject lasted for years within me and within our friendship. We even started attending fashion shows and browsing at counters together. I had advanced in society, and these experiences had allowed me to debut.

Today, I have pleasant memories of my first Burberry purchase, and doors were always open for me at my friend's house. This may seem a little thing, but in a town where everyone was busy, and no one visited, this friendship forged a passion between two consumers from two different periods in time.

If you like anything and everything Burberry, then look into the news of it.
I am actually now researching the before and after of this new announcement.
It is not to be a sparse make up line, but a reputable one and one worth waiting for. I can't wait to spy at the counter at some secretive location and see what it is all going to be like.

I can't wait!
