Summer's Dazzle

Summer's dazzle is not lost upon an avid consumer. Those of us who venture out in the winter to avoid congestion know that summer consumers hibernate after a fruitful season. More power to these seasonal shoppers! You have to love them or avoid them.

Yesterday, my friend who works in the corporate Chicago sector, gifted me with the monthly magazine, "CS," otherwise known as Chicago Social. We were somewhat religious about reading this magazine years ago, but like every other consumer, we allow ourselves the luxury of finding it unawares, once in a while.
The wonderful thing about this magazine is that it remains a standing icon in the area, and it lends you the wonderful chance of finding the right event to attend and the perfect place to shop. If you haven't read it yet, you will be surprised by what you are missing. The photography, too, is remarkable and is sheer poetry.

Years ago, we attended a social event that we found by chance through a collegiate friend of mine, and we met some CS photographers. Flattered by their presence, we dared not appear to be vying for attention, and this actually worked in that we were eventually asked to present ourselves on camera. The lovely fledgling who photographed us was somewhat new to the scene and had never met my friend, an avid consumer, and somewhat of a local celebrity.

It didn't occur to me to tell her who he was, but I liked that she stood by her convictions that celebrities shouldn't appear congenial at social gatherings. They should be more aloof and removed. That was quite a different approach, one more like mine in my usual haunts, except that I would never expect a local celebrity to behave in their native locales.

As a blogger, you have to be ready for just about anything. It put me on the spot, however, and I decided not to mediate. After all, the objective was to get a decent shot of us and then dismiss us, although she wasn't the host. For some reason, the night didn't flow that way. I almost felt as if we knew her after the whole ordeal had passed. She would definitely fit in as a Secret Service agent at a banquet for the President.

I can tell that CS definitely takes their photography seriously. I wonder what they would do at a Republican Ball. Ask everyone to loosen up, or something?

Here's to CS!

Fashion Tip

Summer ushers in fashion and wardrobe changes for seasonal programming. The other day, the soap stars were all in summer regalia. Wonderful! The colors, the textures, the looks, makeup, everything was perfect. The only thing missing was the blurbs in the magazines as to where everything was purchased.

Even the accessories glowed on camera. I had to will "Dante" not to over -shadow the Spencer girl, so I could see the amazing lingerie item she was wearing. Maybe freeze them long enough with extended dialogue, so that the camera wouldn't fade to black so soon?! That color was: "any girl would kill for that."

Watch your soaps, people!

This is going to be an amazing season for fashion candids. I wonder if the digests will carry any info - wear *on any of these.
